Mark Ruffalo in "The Normal Heart" (HBO)

We’ve still got some time until the film adaptation of the iconic Larry Kramer play airs on May 25th but HBO released the latest trailer of “The Normal Heart.

Directed by Ryan Murphy, the film has one of the best casts assembled, which only lends weight to this already important production. Leading the cast is  Mark Ruffalo  as well as Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Taylor Kitsch and Julia Roberts. The film also stars Jonathan Groff, Joe Mantello and Denis O’Hare.

In case you aren’t familiar, “The Normal Heart” follows the AIDS crisis in the 1980s before the government was giving much attention to what was then labeled a ‘gay disease.’

Though I have yet to see the film, I’m already stocking up on kleenex since I know the play well and knowing Kramer was very involved in the film production makes me feel better that the film will pack the same kind of punch.

Overall, this looks amazing so I know where I’ll be when it airs next month. Here’s the new trailer…

“The Normal Heart” airs on HBO on May 25th.
