During the taping of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new special, “Freestyle Love Supreme,” this past Thursday night, who was in the audience at NYC’s celebrated Joe’s Pub but none other than Jonathan Groff, star of HBO’s “Looking” as well as “Glee” on television, a voice in Disney’s “Frozen” and the role that brought him fame in Broadway’s “Spring Awakening.”
The special, is a high-energy, live, hip-hop improv show from award-winning Miranda and Thomas Kail, who together created the Tony/Grammy-winning “In The Heights.” In addition to Miranda the special also stars Utkarsh Ambudkar, Anthony Veneziale, Chris Sullivan, Bill Sherman, Chris Jackson and Arthur Lewis. The show is created by Thomas Kail and Anthony Veneziale.
Groff was a surprise guest and was brought up onstage to be ‘interviewed’ by the improvisers for an audience participation segment.
