When Gaby Espino announced she’d be moving to Los Angeles in early February, fans worried about the small screen future of the popular novela actress. Especially since a move to the west coast would mean her equally as popular beau Jencarlos Canela would also be leaving the Magic City.

We caught up with Gaby at the L’Oreal Paris Miami Product Launch Party held at the Perez Art Museum last week to get you the latest on her current and future plans as well as to find out her secrets to balancing being a mom, actress, and partner.

We were so sad to hear that you and Jencarlos have plans to move to California. Will you be saying goodbye to Miami for good?

“Jencarlos and I will always have a home here in Miami and we will be traveling back-and-forth from Los Angeles often. Our home base will be in California but I’m still with Telemundo and will spend time here when I’m shooting new novelas. So no, Miami will not be losing us.”

Speaking of, congratulations on your new three project deal with the network! What can you tell us about it?

“Nothing yet! [laughs] Only that I’ve signed on to do three more projects with them. I’ve only just signed the deal so I don’t know anything as of yet. Fans can be assured that they’ll see me on Telemundo for a long time yet. With my work on “Santa Diabla” just wrapping up, I’ll be taking a little break before sitting down to discuss what the next project will be. Similarly, we will discuss the second and the third in the future.”

It seems like only yesterday that you were pregnant with Nickolas and he just celebrated his 1st birthday earlier this month! How do you find a balance between your work life and family life?

“My secret to finding that balance is organization. As a family we’re a team and we all help each other out. Tasks and chores are delegated to ensure that everything gets done. If families work together as a unit, anything can be accomplished.”

So does this mean you put Jencarlos to work too?!

“Of course! He’s a great dad and he’s very hands-on with the kids, especially when I’m busy shooting and I do the same when he’s working. Just last week he was at “Premio Lo Nuestro” and I was home with the kids.”

Since this is a beauty event after all, what are some of the products you can’t live without?

“I recently discovered L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation and I love it! On most days, I don’t like to wear a lot of makeup aside from a little base and mascara. But this product is light enough to wear without feeling like you have to add a lot of products on top of it. I’m also currently obsessed with the brand’s new Extraordinaire by Colour Riche lip color in Rose Symphony.”

As you mentioned earlier, you’re work on “Santa Diabla” required a lot of hours of shooting. Now that it’s done, how are you spending your time?

“I love taking time out to pamper myself. After I take the kids to school, I go to the gym. I also like going to get massages to help relieve stress and keep any cellulite at bay. I’m really enjoy some precious and much needed time off for myself right now. I feel zero guilt about doing so, after my mom duties are complete and the kids are at school. I think all women should take dedicate time to themselves.”
