It’s Tuesday and I’m in the mood to watch something I’d never usually watch. FX is airing “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” at 8pm and it might be just what I need! While San Francisco scientist Will Rodman (James Franco) works on a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by testing a genetically engineered retrovirus on chimpanzees, the virus mutates the animals, giving them a human level of intelligence. This results in a change in the balance of power which eventually leads to a war of supremacy between man and the apes. The 2011 film also stars Freida Pinto (“Slumdog Millionaire“), Tom Felton (“Harry Potter“), John Lithgow (“Dexter“) and Andy Serkis (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”).

Another great option is the Ridley Scott directed film, “Prometheus” airing at 9:50pm on HBO. Two brilliant young archeologists, Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), have discovered clues in cave pictograms from ancient civilizations across the world, all of which point to the same location in distant space. They have persuaded a mega-corporation, Weyland Industries, to fund the trillion-dollar mission for them to meet the beings they believe created life on Earth. Michael Fassbender (“Jane Eyre“), Idris Elba (“The Office“), and Charlize Theron (“Men of Honour“) co-star.

Did you catch Chef Anne Burrell on “The Talk” yesterday? She visited the ladies of the daytime chat show in support of the upcoming new season of “Worst Cooks in America.” Chef Burrell will be channeling her inner Latina on Friday at the “South Beach Wine and Food Festival” where she’ll partner with the legendary Emilio Estefan for the “Mojitos and Mixology” event sponsored by Botran Rum. Personally, I can’t wait to see Anne and Emilio combine forces for a night of fun and food.
