Spanish actress Oona Chaplin has been cast in the FX Network drama series pilot, “Hoke,” it was announced today. The Paul Giamatti (“Rock of Ages“, “Sideways“) produced project, based on novels by Charles Willeford , tells the story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective, “Hoke Moseley” (Giamatti), in pre-chic Miami circa early 1980s.

Known for her role as Talisa Maegyr on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Chaplin will play “Ellita Sanchez,” a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s new partner. The 27-year-old is the granddaughter of silent film legend Sir Charlie Chaplin and daughter of actress Geraldine Chaplin.

Fellow Spaniard Jordi Mollà (“Colombiana“, “Bad Boys 2“) also joins the cast in the role of “Armando Zuniga,” a sociopathic Cuban man who arrives on the shores of Miami in the rumpled, faded clothing of a peasant Cuban refugee and integrates into the city posing as a famous poet of the Cuban people.

Rounding out the cast are John Carroll Lynch (“Crazy,Stupid, Love.“), Robert Wisdom (“The Wire“), and Tammy Blanchard (“The Good Shepherd“). Shooting begins this spring in Miami.
