The star that Mariska Hargitay received Friday on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame had special resonance for her: It was next to her mother’s.

Her mother was Jayne Mansfield, a blonde bombshell of the 1950s and ’60s, who was killed in a car accident in June 1967 at age 34.

Hargitay, who was 3 years-old at the time, was in the car with her mother.

Hargitay’s father was body-builder Mickey Hargitay, a former Mr. Universe. He died in 2006 at age 80.

Mariska Hargitay, 49 — the long-time star of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” on NBC — told Jay Leno on Friday’s “Tonight Show” that the honor of receiving a star on the famous Walk of Fame sidewalk in Hollywood was especially meaningful to her because of its location next to the one her mother received in February 1960.

“It was a deeply profound meaningful day,” Mariska said, “and I felt so incredibly connected to her and with my family. One of the things that was so sweet about it was my big brother and my big sister, who were there when my mom got her star, were there today!”
