The Blu-ray and DVD collections from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution arrive just in time for the holiday season and include all 13 episodes and never-before-seen special features. ‘Under the Dome’ centers on a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. Keeping Up Appearances

Just in time for the holidays, BBC Home Entertainment invites you to give the gift of laughter in the form of ‘Keeping up Appearances: The Collector’s Edition,’ now available on DVD. Created by Roy Clarke (Last of the Summer Wine) and starring award-winner Patricia Routledge (Hetty Wainthropp Investigates) as world-class snob Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced BOUQUET, she’ll have you know), this ultimate anthology of the perennial hit sitcom includes every episode, newly remastered and gathered together in a limited edition “Gardeners Vest’ package with collectible seeds and plant tags. With over 200 minutes of bonus content, including the brand new featurette Hyacinth Revealed with newly-recorded interview footage of Routledge, Clarke, and many others, this truly is the definitive collection for anyone looking to climb the social ladder to hilarious new heights. Played with aplomb by Routledge, Hyacinth is a character with few, if any, saving graces. Her pompous, self-serving attitude makes life miserable for all around her while she goes to incredible lengths in her quest for perfection. She keeps a spick-and-span house. Richard, her downtrodden husband, acts as a chauffeur in their immaculately kept car. Their permanently absent son has a superior name, Sheridan. Even the empty milk bottles sparkle on the doorstep after their obligatory rinse in the dishwasher. In marked contrast to Hyacinth’s meticulously ordered life, however, the rest of her family are as common as muck. They live together in a rundown house that resembles a junkyard. Sister Daisy and her husband, Onslow, are out-and-out slobs. Her other sister, Rose, is an aging tart. Rounding out the sisters is the largely unseen (until the final series) Violet – whom Hyacinth would remind you is “the one with the Mercedes, sauna, and room for a pony!” Her family members aren’t the only ones in the line of fire though, her nervous neighbor Elizabeth and Elizabeth’s brother Emmett also regularly cross Hyacinth’s path. Unfortunately, pandemonium breaks out no matter how meticulously Hyacinth plans her social events. Whatever Hyacinth does, her family can always be guaranteed to show her up. The Rose Tattoo

When Tennessee Williams wrote The Rose Tattoo, he had one actress in mind – Anna Magnani. Williams’ sense of casting proved as sharp as his ear for dialogue. Magnani won the Best Actress Oscar for her bravura portrayal in this drama that received eight Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture) and won three.* Magnani plays Serafina Delle Rose, who retreats from the world when her beloved husband dies. But Serafina reawakens to life’s joys when she meets Alvaro (Burt Lancaster), a happy-go-lucky truck driver who has the same sunny openness her husband had, even the same occupation. And on his chest is the same symbol of love, The Rose Tattoo. *1955 Actress (Magnani), Cinematography (B&W), Art Direction (B&W). Buy the DVD at WBshop.com.

Intolerance

D.W. Griffith changed the course of film history with his 1915 Civil War blockbuster ‘The Birth of a Nation,’ and spurred on by its colossal success, he went even bigger on his next epic. The ambitious and still awe-inspiring ‘Intolerance,’ in which the Father of Film masterfully links four centuries-apart stories of universal suffering, remains a signal achievement by any measure. Cohen Media Group’s Cohen Film Collection proudly brings this canonical 1916 work to DVD and, for the first time ever, Blu-ray. The remastered, full-length film is bolstered by a wealth of extras. Stung by charges of glorifying racism in The Birth of a Nation, D.W. Griffith decided to make his next film a plea for tolerance, acceptance and understanding. An epic like nothing that came before it or has been seen since, the monumental ‘Intolerance’ remains as powerful today as it was almost a century ago. This major innovation in screen narrative tells four stories in parallel about social injustice and the effects of intolerance through the ages. Buy the Blu-ray right here.

Passion

Two beautiful young corporate executives engage in a dangerous and tantalizing competition that will take a deeply personal and violent turn in ‘Passion,’ the wildly received new thriller from suspense master Brian De Palma. Forty years after his breakthrough thriller Sisters put him in the suspense/horror pantheon, Brian De Palma returns to the sleek, sly, seductive territory of Dressed to Kill and Body Double with ‘Passion,’ an erotic thriller fueled by sex, ambition and the murderous side of passion. Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace star as two female executives whose fierce competition to rise up the ranks is about to turn literally cutthroat. Christine (McAdams, The Notebook, Sherlock Holmes) is a driven, devious executive at the sleek Berlin office of an international advertising agency. When her ambitious but outwardly shy subordinate Isabelle (Rapace, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, Prometheus) comes up with a brilliant ad campaign for a smartphone, Christine shamelessly takes credit for it, hoping it will bring her a promotion and a transfer to the New York office.
