Can’t Stop Watching: ‘DWTS’s’ Amber Riley and Derek Hough Do It Again, What’s Hot/Not & More

There is something very contagious about witnessing Amber Riley and her partner Derek Hough do their thing on the dance floor. Every time I watch them,  I want someone to twirl me around in the air. The chemistry between these two is electric and translates with every step, dip and swing they take (think a PG-version of Olitz). It’s probably why I enjoyed their cha-cha-cha more than I did Christian Milan and her partner Mark Ballas’ higher-scoring effort. It also helps that they are very good. Monday, Riley and Hough scored 29 (out of a possible 30) for their very passionate Paso Doble performance. Girlfriend knows she has the appropriate facial expressions when she hits the floor — stern for the Paso Doble and the Tango or gleeful for the cha-cha-cha.  I’m definitely keeping my eye on these two. Check them out here.  Speaking of popular shows … I became a fan of “The Walking Dead” two years ago after binging on the first season. I was on hiatus from horror movies so I had to adjust to the gore. I also had to adjust to seeing landmarks and buildings minutes from my home and down the street from where I once worked overrun with realistic-looking zombies. Quite eerie. After watching “DWTS,” I watched Sunday’s episode online via XFINITY. Since I waited later in the evening, I ran across a headline that basically named sweet Carol as the killer. Fiddlesticks. Oh, well, I still enjoyed it, and for a sec thought Tyreese was a goner when he was completely surrounded by walkers.  And am I the only one who noticed that Chad L. Coleman, who plays Tyreese, and Lawrence Gilliard Jr., who stars as Bob Stookey (the other black male character), also starred in HBO’s “The Wire?”  Catch up on “The Walking Dead” here. Apparently flirting with NBC’s Al Roker’s daughter will land you six-feet under as well. The “Today” weatherman shared a hilarious rant about how older teens were flirting with his 14-year-old daughter in front of him while at a Drake concert.  It’s kind of cute, in a lovingly, overprotective father kind of way. Watch it here“The Talk’s” Sheryl Underwood has had her share of hits and misses (her comments about Afro–textured hair were beyond ignorant) but there’s something genuinely good-natured about this funny lady that keeps me rooting for her. Yesterday, Underwood celebrated her 50th birthday (girlfriend looks good)  and I thought the remarks her co-hosts made were touching. Makes you want to call your friends, right?

“The Talks” Sheryl Underwood is 50 and Fabulous!

On my watchlist tonight? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand with…
“The Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat game”: If you watched last season’s NBA playoffs then you know why I”m tuning in. Of course I’m rooting for my Bulls. It airs at 8 p.m. EST tonight on TNT.
“Chicago Fire”: I’m still playing catchup but since the season 2 premiere was the first episode I watched, I may take a gander at tonight’s show depending on how the Bulls-Heat game goes. It airs at 10 p.m. EST tonight on NBC. [Watch here]

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: Whoopi Goldberg making her directorial debut with HBO Moms Mabley documentary (This is cool. My father has her records.).
NOT: Nevada Republican lawmaker Jim Wheeler saying he’d vote for slavery if that’s what his constituents wanted (Would this just be for blacks or all people? ).

HOT: Rihanna’s Medusa-themed December cover of the  British GQ’s 25th anniversary issue (Wish more mainstream magazines would be more creative with their covers.).
NOT:   The number of people, celeb or otherwise, who must don “blackface” for Halloween costumes like a modern-day Al Jolson (Awareness, much? ) .
