“Masterchef” finalist Josh Marks, who was found dead from an apparent self-afflicted gunshot wound, was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia just 24 hours before he took his own life.
TMZ reports that Marks, who came in second on the third season of the Fox reality series, wasn’t able to deal with the “thought of dealing with more mental issues” and that is why he may have shot himself.
His mother, Paulette Mitchell, told the site that the reality star completed an out-patient treatment program ib Thursday, which was where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Mitchell first told the Chicago Tribune that the chef had accepted his bi-polar disorder, but “couldn’t bear the thought of another diagnosis.”
His mother also admits that some of his delusions centered around Gordon Ramsay, which is why he told cops that the chef had possessed his body when he got arrested back in July.
