Jimmy Kimmel joked about his upcoming sitdown with Kanye West, and even speculated that West could strangle him with a pair of leather jogging pants.
Kimmel made his remarks during his monologue to open Tuesday’s edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC.
Earlier in the day, ABC announced that West — who aimed a series of angry Tweets at Kimmel late last month — would visit Kimmel’s show on Wednesday night (Oct. 9).
The subject of leather jogging pants was one of the sore spots in the apparent feud that erupted between West and Kimmel after Kimmel aired a comedy bit that made fun of West’s comportment in an interview he did with a U.K. journalist. In the interview, West seemed to brag about his invention of leather jogging pants, and Kimmel commented in a subsequent monologue that he’d never heard of leather jogging pants nor knew anyone who owned a pair.
“Elton John isn’t enough for one week,” said Kimmel in his Tuesday monologue, in which he announced that John would be seen later on Tuesday’s show.
“We also have a great and potentially uncomfortable show planned for tomorrow,” Kimmel said. “Kanye West will be here tomorrow!”
“Kanye and I had a disagreement a couple of weeks ago and it got a little bit out of hand on Twitter,” Kimmel said. “Tomorrow night, we’re gonna sit down and discuss it like normal people do — on television!”
“It’ll be just us,” Kimmel joked, “and Dr. Phil, and neither of us is leaving until this government shutdown is solved!”
“So, if you’ve always wanted to see a talk-show host get strangled by a pair of leather jogging pants, tomorrow night is the night!”
