Peter Fonda is joining Alicia Silverstone’s pilot for Lifetime, “HR.”

The two-time Oscar nominee will play Jonathan Quaff, one of the founders of the company where Ellen, the main character played by Silverstone, works, a Lifetime rep told TheWrap. The Fonda role will become recurring if the pilot results in a series order.

“HR” follows Ellen, the uptight director of human relations for a global company who suffers from a head injury.

After the injury, she throws standard corporate practices out the window. Some dislike her new ways, while others such as Fonda’s character find them refreshing. He’s bowled over by Ellen’s unorthodox and shocking ideas on how to upgrade the company’s image while keeping everyone happily employed.

Fonda, 73, joins already announced cast members Greg Germann, Will Kemp, Kellee Stewart, Maulik Pancholy, Cara Mantella and Cheyenne Jackson.

Best known for his roles in classic films such as “Easy Rider,” Fonda’s TV credits include “Hawaii Five-0,” “CSI: NY” and “ER.”

Darren Star (“Sex and the City”) will direct and executive-produce the pilot.
