Julie Chen addressed the many reactions to her revelation last week that she once underwent eye-correcting surgery in a bid to look “less Chinese” in order to advance her TV career.

It was a “career move” she felt was necessary at the time, when she was 25 and a budding TV personality. Back then, various advisers and mentors suggested she make the surgical alteration if she wanted to move up in the TV world.

In the wake of the revelation, her surgery has been much talked about, with rumors and theories flying around the Internet that Chen underwent other face-changing surgeries as well — from cheek implants to rhinoplasty (otherwise known as a nose job).

On “The Talk” this week, she faced a camera and spoke directly into it. She listed all of the surgeries she has not had, and even showed a photo of herself, before her eye surgery and after, that she said proved nothing else had been altered. She even showed a video of the process under which her face gets made up each day before she appears on “The Talk,” so viewers, detractors and even haters could see how makeup alone alters some aspects of her face.
