Two cast members on “The Big Bang Theory” are reportedly receiving substantial raises just as the show gets set to begin its seventh season.
The cast members getting the bumps in salary are Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik, according to this story on the Deadline.com Web site.
Deadline says each of the two actresses is receiving raises that will earn them an estimated $60,000 per episode on show — up from an estimated $20,000-30,000 per show.
The two play characters who were not even considered regular characters at the start, but they have apparently earned a promotion from “recurring” status, Deadline said. Rauch plays Bernadette, wife of Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and Bialik plays the love interest for Sheldon (Jim Parsons).
The raises come just as “Big Bang” enters another big season with its season premiere next week — Thursday (Sept. 26) at 8/7c on CBS. The red-hot comedy is nominated for a boatload of Emmys and it reigns as TV’s highest-rated comedy — both on CBS and in repeat syndication on local TV stations and TBS.
As a result, its cast members are able to demand, and get, big raises when contract renewals come due. The Deadline story says the show’s principal stars will do just that in the months to come, in advance of their contracts expiring next spring. Deadline estimates that stars Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco could each command raises that will earn them $500,000 an episode in future seasons — up from an estimated $350,000 currently.
Second-tier cast members Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are also expected to do well in upcoming contract negotiations, Deadline said.
