Things are looking bright for Grant Gustin.
The actor just landed the role as Barry Allen AKA The Flash on The CW’s “Arrow,” which could transition Gustin into the star of a backdoor pilot spinoff for “Flash,” a Warner Bros. TV representative told TheWrap.

The project describes Barry as a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with Arrow (Stephen Amell) unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
Gustin will guest star on three episodes — 208, 209 and 220, which will serve as the backdoor pilot. All three episodes starring Gustin will be written by “Arrow” co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and writer/consultant Geoff Johns. The premise of the pilot will be an origin story like “Arrow.”
On Fox’s “Glee,” Gustin played Sebastian Smythe, the former lead singer of the Dalton Academy Warblers who’s openly gay. He also played Campbell Price on The CW’s “90210.” He also appears in the upcoming film, “Affluenza.”
“Arrow” returns for its second season on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
