Carson Daly has joined NBC News’s “Today” show, the show announced this morning. He’ll be host of something they are calling the Orange Room. As Orange Room host, Carson will allow viewers to weigh-in and influence show segments. It will feature “cutting edge” technology.
“When I got the call about being permanently on Today and launching the Orange Room, it was like a dream come true,” Carson said in an interview for the network’s Web site. “You know that scene in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, where Charlie peels back the wrapper and finds the golden ticket? I felt like I got the golden ticket.”
No mention was made as to what’s up with his late night show; questions have come up recently as to whether he’d be moved out of that slot, and whether the program would be gutted or shuttered. Daly he will continue to host “The Voice” — NBC’s prime-time singing competition that’s one of few big ratings grabbers on the network’s lineup.
“What a great addition to our team #welcomecarson!” Matt Lauer Tweeted this morning.
