Charlie Hunnam, the sexy star of “Sons of Anarchy” on FX, has reportedly been cast to play the title role in the movie being adapted from the erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
He’ll play Christian Grey in the movie, according to various reports making the rounds on Monday (including this one on the Hollywood Reporter Web site).
The casting of Hunnam — along with his leading lady, Dakota Johnson — was revealed in a tweet by “Fifty Shades” author E.L. James.
“The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she wrote.

Hunnam, 33, will play Grey, the erotic novel’s leading man with a preference for far-out sex practices. His co-star, Johnson, is the daughter of TV star Don Johnson and movie star Melanie Griffith (who are no longer married, of course). The casting is apparently big news for the millions who have read “Fifty Shades” and have been wondering who would be cast to play the novel’s main characters. The movie is reportedly scheduled for release next summer.
Hunnam is best-known for playing rough-and-ready Jax Teller, president of a northern California motorcycle gang in “Sons of Anarchy.”
