It was only one episode ago that “Bachelorette” viewers were left shell-shocked after front-runner 28-year-old sales rep Brooks Forester decided he didn’t want a future with Desiree Hartsock.
So that left two suitors clamoring for her affections, Drew Kenney and Chris Siegfried. Would Desiree abandon them because of her professed love for Brooks? Or would someone else fill that hole in her heart?
Warning spoilers ahead!
After a two-hour buildup, Desiree did find her happy ending, and is engaged to Chris.
Drew seemed out of the running early on in the episode, with Des stating “I wanted to feel the excitement I feel when I’m in love with someone,” she admitted while on their romantic date. “I don’t know if I can see our futures together,” she told Drew. “I feel like there’s something missing.”
That left Chris, with Des telling viewers that she didn’t want him to leave.
“Going into my date with Chris, having to say goodbye would be miserable,” Des said and later noted that she worried that he would find out about her feelings for Brooks.
“Chris is the man I could love my entire life, but at the same time, Chris doesn’t know how I felt about Brooks,” Des said, noting that she was worried that Chris will change his mind about proposing to her once he learns the truth.
But the truth didn’t affect Chris’ feelings and he then got down on his knee to ask for her hand in marriage, wanting to be her “first and last.”
