Eccentric actor James Franco is the latest celebrity to be “honored” by becoming a Comedy Central Roastee.

The multi-tasking star and modern-day Renaissance man will give the as-yet-unnamed roasters plenty of material to work with, considering his lengthy, unusual resume ranges from actor, director, soap star and uninspired Oscars host, to college student and author.

Comedy Central’s roast of James Franco will tape in August in Los Angeles and is slated to air on Labor Day. It’s tied to premiere at the same time as Franco’s documentary, “Francophrenia,” which will also debut on Comedy Central’s digital and VOD platforms after the special airs.

“If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central president of content development and original programming.

“I’ve dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember,” Franco said.
