“Outlander,” the upcoming series from “Battlestar Galactica” executive producer Ronald D. Moore, has found its main man.
Sam Heughan, whose credits include the BBC soap opera “Doctors” and “A Very British Sex Scandal,” has been cast as chivalrous Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser.
The series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s book series, will begin filming this fall for a 2014 premiere. It follows Fraser as he embarks on a love affair with married World War II-era combat nurse Claire Randall, who’s mysteriously transported back to 1743.
Fraser is described as a natural leader of men” who “has no political ambitions or desire for battlefield glories. Instead, he wishes to remove the price on his head and return to his family’s ancestral farm.”
