An intriguing new character is about to pop up on “Under the Dome.”
When we spoke to “Under the Dome” executive producer Neal Baer last Friday, he told xfinityTV, “We haven’t met everybody yet. We haven’t met all the people who are going to play a role in this ensemble cast. We will meet some new people inside the dome. Like: What Oscar-nominated and Emmy-nominated performer will be caught under the dome? We haven’t said yet.”
Now he has. xfinityTV can reveal that the nominated actress who will be joining the cast later in the season is none other than Mare Winningham. She takes on the role of Agatha, a seemingly warm woman acting as a caretaker for a house caught under the dome. Initially, Agatha is welcoming to Big Jim, but we soon learn that her intentions are anything but sincere as we discover her true ties to Chester’s Mill.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Mare Winningham on ‘Under the Dome’,” Baer says. “She’s my good-luck charm: I worked with her on ‘ER,’ as well as on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ [for which she was Emmy-nominated as Outstanding Guest Actress]. She brings truth and believability to every role and she will definitely leave viewers talking.”
“Under the Dome” airs Monday nights at 10/9c on CBS.
