Despite John Oliver’s assertions, “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart is not searching for treasure based on a map he found on the back of the U.S. Constitution, nor is he in a bunker with Edward Snowden, nor he is crossing the Grand Canyon on a tightrope.
Instead, Stewart is still in the Middle East working on his first directorial project, but that didn’t stop him from checking in on his show via Skype on Thursday, and he now has a beard.
Temporary host Oliver told Stewart the there had been a couple of changes since Stewart began his 12-week leave of absence.
“The only key things are we play softball against the Mets on Monday, and Bruce Springsteen comes to play every Tuesday night,” Oliver teased, before adding “We didn’t think they’d be things you’d enjoy.”
“I wanna come home!” Stewart proclaimed.
