Paula Deen may be getting hammered in the press and losing numerous sponsors as a result of her N-word controversy, but her fans are now pushing her books up Amazon’s Best Seller list.

The former Food Network celebrity’s newest publication “Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up,” now ranks No. 4 on the site’s list of book sales. What makes that unusual is that the book doesn’t come out until Oct. 15, and it ranked No. 16 just a day ago.

After losing deals with the likes of “Food Network,” Wal-Mart and Caesar’s after admitting her use of the word, and making questionable PR moves to control the damage Deen’s publishing company issued a statement regarding the controversy.

“We are monitoring the situation closely,” Stuart Applebaum, spokesman for Random House, Inc. told E! News. “At present, the book remains on course for its fall publication.”

Meanwhile, Deen finally appeared on the “Today” show this morning after suddenly cancelling an interview slated for last Friday, and tried to calm the waters by defending herself against claims that she is a racist.
