UPDATE: Selma Blair has been officially let go from “Anger Management,” FX confirms.
Charlie Sheen seems to be really steaming over his behind-the-scenes battle with his “Anger Management” co-star Selma Blair.
Sheen is now allegedly threatening to quit the show if producers do not fire Blair as he has demanded, TMZ has learned. The website first reported Monday that major friction erupted on the set of the FX series after Sheen discovered that his leading lady complained about him to the producers.
In her meeting with execs, Blair allegedly accused the high-profile star of being difficult to work with and of being habitually late to the set.
Offended that his co-star criticized his work ethic, a furious Sheen demanded that she be fired from the show, or he walks. That’s quite a conundrum, considering Sheen and co. have only completed filming roughly half of the 100-episode order in the FX deal, according to TMZ.
The story added that Blair was not on set Monday, but it’s unknown whether or not she was scheduled to film, or if she stayed away after the Sheen blow-up.
On Tuesday morning, Blair was seen going for a walk with her child, and when she was asked if she’s been axed from the show, she reportedly replied, “I don’t know anything.”
FX execs are said to be in discussions about how to handle the touchy situation, says TMZ.
Adding to the headache for all involved: “Anger” has tumbled in the ratings, with viewership falling below 800,000 viewers per week. FX’s sister network FOX is trying to give the show a boost, airing a four-episode run of “Anger Management” in June (so far, it hasn’t helped).
