Count Jesse Tyler Fergusonas another name having difficulties with the IRS.

The “Modern Family” actor’s non-profit organization Tie the Knot is being scrutinized by the Internal Revenue Service, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor’s group raises funds to promote marriage equality by selling bow ties.

The article states that, according to newly released government documents, Tie the Knot was among the organizations famously targeted for special scrutiny by the IRS. Of course, while the IRS investigations have made headlines for seemingly targeting only conservative groups, the release of documents makes clear that liberal-leaning organizations that also claimed a tax exemption as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations were also on the list.

The tax code mandates that these groups spend most of their funds they raise for education, rather than partisan or electoral purposes.
