If you’re one of those viewers who has trouble keeping the vast cast of characters straight on “Game of Thrones,” get ready to expand your cheat sheet because a few more are bound for Westeros.
Three key characters from the books will be jumping off the page and onto the TV screen, making their debuts on the upcoming season of the HBO series.
George R. R. Martin, the author of the best-selling fantasy series of novels, recently revealed the news at a fan convention that casting is underway for next season.
Revealing a hint of what’s to come in Season 4, Martin confirmed auditions are currently being held for the roles of The Magnar, Mace Tyrell, and Oberyn Martell.
For those “GOT” watchers who have not read the books, here’s a quick primer on who these players are:
The Magnar: Styr, the Magnar of Thenn, is a Wildling leader and a major part of Mance Rayder’s army
Mace Tyrell: The son of Lady Olenna and the father of Margaery
Oberyn Martell: Probably the one fans will be most excited about, since he’s the first person from Dorne to appear on the series. He’s a prince of Dorne and allegedly plays a big part in Tyrion’s storyline.
“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
