Arnold Schwarzenegger is turning to TV for his next act.

The body-builder, action-movie star, former California governor and scandalized husband of Maria Shriver has reportedly sold a concept for a one-hour drama series to Showtime, according to this story on the Hollywood Reporter Web site.

For this series idea, Schwarzenegger, 65, is looking back to his heyday as an international body-building star in the 1970s. Titled “Pump,” the show will take place in that decade at a gym called Pump in Venice Beach, Calif., the southern California community that has long been a mecca of body-building.

The THR story describes the proposed show this way: “The project traces the origin of the present-day fitness industry and culture of body worship to a single 1,000-square-foot concrete room on Pacific Avenue: a gym called Pump.”

Schwarzenegger is one of the executive producers of the proposed show, which may or may not become a full-fledged series following the production of a pilot. However, if it does get the OK from Showtime for a full series, Schwarzenegger will make recurring appearances in the show, the story said.
