Summer can only mean one thing in the world of televised singing competitions… who will be the next celebrities to fill the empty judges seats on “American Idol” and “The X Factor“?
There could be as many as six spots in play between the two shows. (We won’t count NBC’s “The Voice” which confirmed that returning judges Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will return this fall.)
Anyway, one of those empty seats is about to be filled. Entertainment Weekly reports that singer Kelly Rowland is close to a deal to appear on the show next season, joining Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato on the show.
The “Destiny’s Child” founding member brings experience to the table. She has previously served as a judge on the British version of “The X Factor.” She would replace one of the spots left by the departing Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.
Meanwhile, the magazine also reports that Cowell is in talks with Latin singer-actress Paulina Rubio to fill the last spot, although the seriousness of the conversations remains unclear.
