Dancing with the Stars” pro Karina Smirnoff, who hurt her jaw on Sunday while practicing with partner Jacoby Jones, is back to doing what she likes almost as much as dancing — talking!

Karina told reporters after Monday night’s show, when she pulled through her injury to guide Jacoby to incredible scores of 30 and 29, that she was “much better.” But she laughed that her doctor said “not to talk for 24 hours. The 24 hours is up! I can run my mouth!”

After “Dancing” Rehearsal Injury

“DWTS” aired scary footage during Monday’s episode that showed Karina in pain after hurting her jaw during a maneuver with Jacoby. “We were doing one of the lifts that actually wasn’t the hardest of lifts…our timing was a little off,” Karina explained. “I landed on my jaw. It jumped it back and gave me a whiplash in my neck so it got stuck. I couldn’t move it for a couple of minutes and, at that point, I freaked out. I thought I broke it.

“But they said once the swelling goes down, [my jaw] will go back in the right place. It’s a little crooked. [The doctor] thinks it’ll go back to normal.”

Karina says her jaw problem absolutely won’t impede her if they are voted through to next week’s Finals, which appears likely after the couple tied for first place with Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas, both getting a cumulative score of 59 out of 60. Jacoby and Karina’s Argentine tango and Lindy Hop were huge hits with the judges.

“I can still scream at him and talk,” Karina pointed out. “Now that I can vocalize everything, I think we’ll be okay.”

Still, Jacoby admitted he had been very worried. “She had to toss herself up there and duck under her legs,” he shuddered. “I was worried about her health — I didn’t give a damn about the competition. I was upset with myself. I thought I’d broke this girl’s jaw by tossing her.”

But all’s well that ends well! Karina said the doctor told her, “The best advice I can give you right now is wear a neck brace [and] don’t move for a couple of weeks as much as you can. I’m like, ‘That’s not going to happen.’ If I can move, even if it’s on one leg and sliding on my elbows to the floor, I’ll be there!”
