Matthew Perry isn’t having the best week.

First his freshman comedy “Go On” got the ax by NBC. Then he was tracked down by sports reporter Dan Moriarty for a quick interview at an L.A. Kings playoff game. What made the interview so bad? Moriarty, either confused, misinformed or trying to inject some humor, told Perry, “So, big news today and congratulations is in order.”

Give Perry credit, he handled it with grace, stating “Oh, thank you.” He then added, “You mean because of the show getting canceled. It was sort of a sad day because of the people, and I’m going to miss them. But this show was really getting in the way of some Kings games, so I’m OK.”

Moriarty sensed the awkwardness, and simply replied, “So it’s a double-edged-sword congratulations.”
