Judge Len Goodman caused a commotion with the “Dancing with the Stars” cast after he cussed out Bruno Tonioli on the Monday night show.
After fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno raved about Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough’s Paso Doble trio dance with Tristan MacManus, Len had a meltdown in the ballroom. He strongly disagreed with his co-stars, saying, “I was expecting more than flashing lights and crashing music. It was a hodgepodge of moves just out there to titillate the taste buds … where’s the recognizable Paso Doble? I can’t believe it!”
Bruno stood up and shouted, “Len is wrong!” to the audience and Carrie Ann agreed, yelling, “No!” to Len’s comments. Then the 69-year-old judge lost it, shouting at Bruno, “You can’t talk unless you stand up ’cause your vocal cords are stuck up your ass!”

Backstage after the show, Len’s breakdown was the talk of the night, and “Bachelor” Sean Lowe cracked, “He’s a cranky old man. Someone needs to change his diaper! It might make him a lot happier.”
Sean’s partner Peta Murgatroyd took said of the longtime “DWTS” judge, “He didn’t have a point. I think that it was ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, Derek, who was at the center of the drama, laughed to reporters, “I thought [it] was amazing. I applaud Len. If we can make the judges fight, then we’re doing something right!”
But the golden boy dancer also admitted he did have mixed feelings: “I’m not going to lie. I had flashbacks to like, ‘Oh, mom and dad are fighting again? Oh, no, not in front of me, please!’”
Derek revealed that he was also surprised about the kerfuffle because he had designed part of the routine specifically to please Len! “Earlier in the week, we had run into him and he was like, ‘you’re doing the Paso Doble, great, do the salvador.’ He showed me the salvador, an old, basic, traditional move, so I put that salvador in just for him so I thought I had an ‘in’ with Len this week but he blindsided me.”
But the dancer said of Kellie’s Paso, which earned a 10 from both Bruno and Carrie Ann but a measly 7 from Len for a total of 27, “I’m really happy with what she did. I’m really proud of her.”
Kym Johnson, who dances with Ingo Rademacher, said, “I think it was one of the best dances Derek has ever choreographed. I loved it. I don’t know what Len was thinking there. It got heated in the ballroom.”
However, Val Chmerkovskiy, whose partner is Disney star Zendaya Coleman, told reporters that Len “might have had a point that he made irrelevant by the way he went about it. No one really heard what he said ‘cause they’re now too focused on his outburst and his unprofessionalism. He took a stance because he’s bullied by the crowd and he’s bullied by the two overzealous and over energetic characters on the sides and he always tries to give a constructive opinion and he’s muted by these emotions. It’s good that he let it loose but it’s a lose/lose situation.”
Laughing, Val recalled his brother Maks Chmerkovskiy mouthing off to the judges and thought Len got a taste of his own medicine: “Take a lesson from Maks! Maybe he did have a good thing to say — but it got lost.”
