With “The Office” closing its doors on May 16, it appears that one very familiar face will be returning for one last hurrah on the show.
Michael Scott is heading back, according to TV Line, for one last appearance before the show signs off for good.
The news comes despite show producers stating as recently as last week that there will not be any official reunion for the former “Office” honcho, telling reporters that Steve Carell, who plays Scott, wanted the other characters to have the spotlight.
“I think Steve felt, and I agree, that the ‘Goodbye, Michael’ episode was his goodbye and he didn’t want to overshadow the ending that all the other characters deserved,” said executive producer Greg Daniels.
Sources for TV Line said that Carell’s return will be brief, more in line of a surprise cameo than serving as a guest star.
Carell did go public last Saturday, however, when he surprised thousands of fans of the show when he took part with his former co-stars at a huge wrap party held in the real Scranton, Pennsylvania.
