They say age is simply a state of mind. And if that’s the case, Hugh Hefner will forever be a 21-year-old. Even though he turns 86 on April 9, the man who founded the Playboy empire will forever be the poster boy for young, hormonal guys everywhere. (Right up there next to their actual poster of the current Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model….)

From his days running Playboy’s magazine and cable channel to his nights romancing three Playmates at a time in “The Girls Next Door,” Hefner has lived the sort of party life that is generally unavailable to the rest of the world. It’s been 60 years since he borrowed $8,000 from investors (including $1,000 from his mom) and launched his infamous magazine. And, with every generation since, he’s managed to find a way to tweak the national mood and attitude. As he puts it, “Life is too short to be living someone else’s dream.”

The name “Hefner” has come to mean letting loose and indulging yourself, so what better way to celebrate the ultimate playboy’s life and philosophy than watching these five sexy flicks.
