“Bachelor” Sean Lowe was at it again, kissing his love Catherine Giudici for the cameras.
But on Monday night, it was for his new ABC reality show, “Dancing with the Stars,” where he dedicated his dance to his fiancee. And Sean thrilled their fans by giving Catherine a long kiss during the solo part of his waltz with partner Peta Murgatroyd.
And after the show, Sean told reporters backstage that the buss stop was a surprise for Catherine: “She knew the dance was dedicated to her but that’s about all she knew. I said ‘be prepared. I might end the dance right in front of you.’ [But] I didn’t give her anything else out of that.”
“DWTS” chose the theme “The Best Year of Your Life” for the celebrities this week, and Sean, of course, selected 2012, when he met Catherine, whom he proposed to at the end of “The Bachelor.” When asked if he had considered any other years, Sean smiled, “No. That was the only year, the only option. It made perfect sense. [It was] by far the best year of my life.”
So he dedicated the dance to Catherine. After his Viennese waltz, (and the big romantic kiss interlude), Sean received a score of 20 from the judges. Catherine’s reaction? “She thought I was robbed. She’s going to say that no matter what I get – unless it’s 10s. She thought it was a great dance. She loved it. She waved up to me when I was in the skybox, making sure I was okay.”
Sean told xfinityTV that he was thinking of Catherine throughout the dance: “Of course. The emotion was there.” Still, he admitted the judges were right that he needed to work on his dance skills: “The timing and footwork was a little off tonight.”
“The Bachelor” has said he wants to make the waltz his first dance at his upcoming wedding to Catherine. However, he joked on Monday, “After that performance, I don’t think I’m ever going to do the waltz again. I hate the waltz.” But when his partner Peta protested, “Don’t say that! It’s your wedding dance,” Sean laughed, “I’m just kidding! I’ll give it another try. I’m just not thrilled with how it went tonight.”
Peta admitted, “We just rushed it through; we were a couple of beats ahead of the music. [He needs] bigger steps and more body contact.”
But Sean had plenty of lip contact with Catherine during the dance for all to see. And Sean said their family relationships are going swimmingly: “Catherine’s mom is here tonight. It’s fantastic,” the reality TV hunk smiled. “I got to hang out with her dad a little bit this week so it’s been awesome.”
The “DWTS” results show airs Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC.
