Kim Kardashian fired back at the media and others such as Chelsea Handler who have said “mean” things about Kim’s body as she gains weight from her pregnancy.

It was a rare, mid-pregnancy talk-show appearance for Kim, who appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Thursday, ostensibly to promote her new movie, “Tyler Perry’s Temptation,” which opened Friday night.

Kim, who is pregnant with rapper Kanye West’s baby, has not cut back on her public appearances, however. And it’s been those appearances, and her style choices during her pregnancy, that have had critics in the tabloids lambasting her. Generally, the complaint has been about the relative appropriateness of the dresses she’s been wearing while pregnant.

And while this might not be important to you, it’s apparently a weighty subject for Kim. “Has the media been a little unfair unfair, do you think? Picking on you a little bit?” Leno asked her.

“I think it’s a little bully-ish to call a pregnant woman fat,” Kim said. “I mean, what do you expect? I hope I gain weight! I think [the criticism is] wrong. I’ve always been curvy and I have always embraced my curves and I love ‘em and now there’s just more to love right now. I think it’s kind of mean.” Kim said she’s added about 25 pounds during her pregnancy.

Then Leno asked her about Chelsea Handler, who has apparently joined the chorus of Kim critics on her nightly show on E!, “Chelsea Lately.” Kim and members of her family even appeared on Handler’s other E! show, “After Lately.”

“She was another bully,” said Kim, who added, “We kind of made up.” Kim’s family, of course, are the top stars on E! with their various reality shows.

Then Kim made a joke at Jay’s expense — referring to the reports that he’s about to be replaced by Jimmy Fallon next year when Jay’s contract is up. “Our contract is up,” Kim said when Jay asked her about whether she’ll continue with “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” And I put in an application for your job because I heard yours is up too!”

Then in his reply, Jay made a joke that seemed to refer to himself as a victim of “bullying” on the part of NBC.

“I’m hoping to take over your job,” Kim said.

To which Jay replied, “Since we’re talking about bullies, this would be a good time …” Whatever his thought was on that subject, he didn’t finish it — leaving the unfinished statement open to our interpretation, which was: He was going to make a joke about NBC but stopped short.
