Back from the dead and officially on the schedule!
AMC has set the Season 3 premiere date for “The Killing,” which will return with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, June 2 at 8/7c, the network announced Friday.
Series stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman are returning and will be joined by new cast members Peter Sarsgaard, Elias Koteas and Amy Seimetz.
The storyline for the upcoming season picks up a year after the Rosie Larsen case is closed and begins with Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) no longer working as a detective for the Seattle police. But when her ex-partner Holder’s (Joel Kinnaman) search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that has a connection to one of Linden’s previous investigations, she’s drawn back into the crime-solving world.
AMC also made sure to point out that this new case “will be resolved over the course of ten episodes,” just to calm any residual fears over having another unsolved mystery controversy. Viewers were outraged after “The Killing’s” Season 1 finale when the Rosie Larsen whodunit was not revealed as expected.
AMC officially announced in January that they were resurrecting the soaked-in-Seattle mystery drama after cancelling it last summer after Season 2 ended.
Production on the new season began in February in Vancouver.
