“Bachelor” Sean Lowe, who touched America just days ago when ABC aired his sweet proposal to his show pick Catherine Giudici, said he couldn’t have done “Dancing with the Stars” without her.
After his first performance (on his second reality show!), Sean smiled to xfinityTV, “I went over to Catherine and she just said she was so proud of me, she loves me. I think she would give me a ten; I know the judges didn’t tonight but that’s what a good fiancé does!”
Sean garnered a respectable 19 points out of 30 with dancer Peta Murgatroyd and told reporters, “It feels great. I’m so glad to have the first [dance] behind me. Now I know what this is all about, the craziness that this brings. I think next week you’ll see some improvement.”
Sean laughed that he was “confident — but confident doesn’t always translate into a great dance.”
The best part, however, was sharing the “DWTS” experience with the woman he’s going to marry! “I’m one to embrace challenges and this certainly fits that mold and most importantly, Catherine was behind me,” he said. “She was the first person I called when ["DWTS" producers] approached me [to do the show] and she said, ‘Hey, I’m going to support you and I think this is going to be a fun opportunity for both of us’ and so I couldn’t help but take it.”
Sean said of his wedding plans with Catherine, “It’s coming along. We’ve mapped out some broad details but we have a long ways to go.”
They have, however, already picked their first dance! “I think we’re going to go with the waltz and Peta has graciously volunteered to help us learn it,” he said.
Sean admitted “it’s tough at times” that his heavy dance rehearsal schedule takes him away from Catherine. But he added, “She understands and supports us and knows Peta’s work ethic and she knows I’m going to give it everything I have. But when I’m not rehearsing, I always make sure to capitalize on our time together and we go on dates and do fun things together.”
When asked how the conversation went with Catherine when Sean had to tell her he’d be dancing with Peta, the now off-the-market “Bachelor” said, “Peta’s certainly a gorgeous girl; anyone can see that. But Catherine’s so confident. She’s not worried and she and Peta have become friends so she’s fully behind us.”
Meanwhile, even though he was always stripping down on “The Bachelor,” don’t look for Sean to go shirtless on “DWTS” just yet. “We’re going to wait awhile,” Sean laughed. “Peta wants to show off my dancing, as do I. I think America thinks my shirt’s coming off immediately. They’re probably surprised tonight that it didn’t come off.”
