In the first “Dancing with the Stars” feud of the new season, Lisa Vanderpump revealed her dog Giggy is jealous of her hunky pro partner, Gleb Savchenko!
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” beauty and her “DWTS” co-star, boxer Victor Ortiz, told xfinityTV in an exclusive interview Friday about getting ready for Monday night’s big Season 16 premiere.
Here’s what the two contestants had to say about dance rehearsals, body bruises and that misbehaving Pomeranian:
How nervous are you about dancing on Monday?
Lisa: A 10 or 11, would you say?
Victor: A 15!
Victor: I’m like way up here. It’s very nerve-wracking.
Lisa: We just want to get through it.
Victor: I’m going to quote myself. A few weeks back, I said, yeah, my partner [Lindsay Arnold] and I are going to win this thing. I was speaking before I had any knowledge of dancing. I’m going to eat my words! I’m going to backtrack a little bit and just say that the whole cast has been amazing. They’ve been working from 1 to 7 or whatever times they have and you know what? Everyone is looking impressive from what I’ve seen and my response to everybody is I think we all have an equal chance of winning and may the best win and this is no easy task.
Lisa: No! We’re way out of our comfort zone. But I think that’s the fascinating part of the story. It’s just so challenging and so we’ve certainly found that out.
Are you guys allowed to say what dance you’re doing?
Victor: We can’t just say.
Lisa: Whatever dance it is, they’re all strange to me. They’re all foreign to me. I’ve never danced with anybody so it didn’t even really matter.
Victor: Yeah, I agree with you. I’ve never danced in my life. You, on the other hand, you’ve had some experience—
Lisa: I’ve had some but the bad news was, it was 35 years ago and it wasn’t as much as I needed, clearly. [Laughs]
Victor: Well, your dancing speaks for itself. You’re looking pretty amazing.
Lisa: You’re sweet! I’m not really. But you’re an athlete!
Victor: My feet is all I’ve got!
Lisa: He actually wrapped my hands when my hands were bruised. He put a boxing glove on my paw.
Victor: I did! It was pretty funny.
How did your hands get bruised, Lisa?
Lisa: Just from turning with my partner [Gleb Savchenko]. I think I hold on for dear life at this point. Everything’s bruised, though. [Laughs] It’s not just my hands. I look like a kind of piebald [a spotted horse] when I take my clothes off. I’ve got bruises here, bruises there. I’ve fallen a couple of times. Have you?
Victor: I’ve fallen a few times and it’s caught on camera.
Lisa: It’s a lot of laughs, though! I’m stressed in places I didn’t even know existed so it’s been tough. But it’s all good. It’s been an amazing experience so far.
I know you can’t reveal too much, but can you give us any clues about your first dances?
Lisa: Well, hopefully, I just want to get through it. My dance — I can’t say what it is but it’s so kind of foreign to what I would normally do, if that gives you a clue. It’s obviously not something contemporary. That’s been quite challenging, to adopt the positions you need to know [sighs]. If I can get through it and memorize it, that will really be enough for me. I’ll be thrilled with that.
Victor: Absolutely. On my end, a little clue is, I’m very loose. [Laughs]
Lisa: What part of your body is loose?
Victor: [Cryptically] You know. Whenever you’ve gotta move! You have to keep loose up top and I’m a very tense person. It’s very rough.
Lisa, how is Giggy dealing with your dance schedule?
Lisa: Giggy came to rehearsals but he wasn’t very well-behaved at rehearsals. He was very jealous of Gleb at the beginning and wouldn’t stop shouting at him. So I have to include him a little bit and now it’s a little bit better.
So he’s still allowed in rehearsals?
Lisa: He goes to some. But he can’t be too vocal because I’ve got to concentrate.
Victor, have you met Giggy?
Victor: He’s sitting next to me right now.
Lisa: He’s here!
Victor: He’s a good looking little fella!
Season 16 of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres Monday, March 18 at 8/7c on ABC.
