LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – Mandy Moore has signed on for the CBS drama pilot “The Advocates,” from “The Mentalist” creator Bruno Heller.

“Saved!” star Moore will play Shannon – who was once a take-no-prisoners assistant district attorney but becomes a victims’ advocate after learning the truth about her tragic past – and her connection to an unjustly incarcerated man (played by Benjamin McKenzie, who stars in TNT’s current “Southland” – at least for now).

Heller is writing and executive producing the pilot, which comes from Warner Bros. Television.
