A legendary killer is reborn in the upcoming thriller “Hannibal.”

After offering a few haunting teasers, NBC has released a new, extended look at the series, which is coming to Thursday nights in April.

In the new footage, we learn criminal profiler Will Graham, played by Hugh Dancy (Claire Dane’s husband), is approached by the FBI, who wants to “borrow his imagination,” and “re-instate” him as a Special Investigator to help out with a killer case.

“He can enter the mind of a killer in a way that no one ever has,” says Special Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne).

It seems that Graham, however, is paying the “price of imagination” and is dealing with “huge amounts of fear,” so Crawford sends him for a psych evaluation to be conducted by the one and only … Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

Mads Mikkelsen (the Bond villain from “Casino Royale”) stars as the younger, hotter version of “Hannibal” in this intriguing, and yes, dark, new drama created by Bryan Fuller (“Heroes,” “Pushing Daisies”).

“It’s an interesting place to start,” muses Dr. Lecter upon his first session with Graham.

“Hannibal” premieres Thursday, April 4 at 10/9c on NBC.
