Vegas” is heading into new territory: Friday nights.

CBS is bumping the Dennis Quaid-Michael Chiklis series to the badlands of Friday night TV to make room for its new “Golden Boy” on Tuesday nights.

The midseason police drama about NYC’s youngest Police Commissioner starring Theo James and Chi McBride had been given two previews in “Vegas’s” Tuesdays at 10 p.m. time slot, with the intentions of moving “Golden Boy” to Friday nights after the trial run. That plan has now changed, with the network deciding to keep “Golden Boy” on Tuesdays, giving it the cushy real estate behind CBS’s mega-hits “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” to help boost the new series’ ratings.

“Golden Boy” opened to less-than-golden ratings, averaging a 1.7 rating and 10 million total viewers, but it hasn’t faced stiff competition in the Tuesday at 10 p.m. hour (opposite ABC’s “Body of Proof” and NBC’s “Smash”), and has actually won the time period in its first two outings.

“Vegas” will air on Friday nights at 9/8c beginning on April 5 (after CBS’ coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament), where it will lead into CBS’ Friday night hit “Blue Bloods.”
