ABC has named the co-hosts of its upcoming celebrity diving competition “Splash” — actor Joey Lawrence and ESPN personality Charissa Thompson will handle the duties.
They both are members of the ABC family — Lawrence competed on Season 3 of “Dancing with the Stars” and currently stars on the ABC Family series “Melissa & Joey,” while Thompson hosts ESPN2′s “SportsNation.”
“Splash,” which is set to premiere March 19 at 8/7c on ABC, features 10 celebrities who will train and compete in regulation platform and springboard diving (yes, HIGH diving).
Olympic diver Greg Louganis has been helping to train each celebrity for several weeks, before they go off the deep end in front of a weekly poolside audience.
London Olympic U.S. Gold medalist David Boudia and Australian Olympic athlete and USA Dive Team director Steve Foley serve as the judges and will give out the critiques.
The ten celebrities competing on the show are:
KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR, NBS Legend
LOUIE ANDERSON, comedian
DRAKE BELL, of the Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh”
CHUY BRAVO, Chelsea Handler’s sidekick
NICOLE EGGERT, former “Baywatch” babe
KESHIA KNIGHT PULLIAM, “Rudy Huxtable” from “The Cosby Show”
NDAMUKONG SUH, NFL star of the Detroit Lions
RORY BUSHFIELD, Extreme skiier
KATHERINE WEBB, Miss Alabama USA 2012, University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron
