Naomi Campbell is setting the record straight on the rumored longstanding feud between her and Tyra Banks.
On Sunday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” the star of Oxygen’s “The Face” told host Andy Cohen that the two supermodels have a “good friendship.” Campbell said it irks her that people continue to pit them against each other, especially, she noted, after they “cleared up” any potential ill will on a 2005 episode of “The Tyra Banks Show.”
“It bugs me that two women of the same ilk and color had to be pitted against each other,” she admitted. “And that’s something that I’ve always felt, even back then. You can have more than one woman of color in a fashion show. Unfortunately back then it was like, ‘Okay we’ll just have one…’ so the other felt put out.”
When asked by a caller if “The Face” hired former “America’s Next Top Model” judge Nigel Barker in an effort to get back at Banks, Campbell said he was brought on because he was available and “he’s someone that is a veteran of reality competition.”
Ultimately, Campbell said that she was “proud” of the smizing empire Banks has created. “I’m very proud of Tyra and what she’s done with ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ she confessed. “It’s a great achievement and she should be extremely proud. I’m proud to know her.”
