Sitcom faves collide!
TV Land is totally into the idea of Kirstie Alley’s round-up of classic ’90s sitcom stars — Kirstie, Kramer and Carla! — for her new show, which is officially a go and has been ordered to series.
The cable network has ordered 12 episodes of “Kirstie’s New Show,” with it set to premiere it this fall, TV Land announced Friday. (Thankfully, they’ve dropped its original title “Giant Baby” in favor of the less original but still better title of “Kirstie’s New Show.”)
“We’ve been after Kirstie for two years, and now we found the perfect show for her and the perfect writer in Marco Pennette,” said TV Land’s Keith Cox, executive VP development and original programming, in a statement. “We are so excited to give a home to Kirstie and this amazing cast with a show that TV Land fans will love.”
“Kirstie’s New Show” centers around Alley’s character Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star whose life is turned upside down when the son she gave away turns up wanting to connect after his adopted mother dies. Richards will play Maddie’s limo driver and Perlman will play her long-suffering assistant/best friend. In addition, Alley’s fellow “Dancing with the Stars” alum Gilles Marini (“Switched at Birth,” “Brothers & Sisters“) will have a guest starring role as her chef.
