Three reality show crew members were killed when their helicopter crashed overnight in northern Los Angeles while filming a new reality show for the Discovery Channel.
All three people aboard the aircraft died when it crashed at 3:40 a.m. Sunday near its filming location at the Polsa Rosa Ranch in Acton, Calif.
The victims were identified Monday by coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter, according to The Associated Press, as: David Gene Gibbs, 59, of Valencia, Calif.; Darren Arthur Rydstrom, 46, of Whittier, Callif., and Michael William Donatelli, 45, of Indiana, Pa.
The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
The show, described as an untitled military-themed TV project, was still in development and had not yet been announced by Discovery.
“A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred,” a Discovery Channel spokesperson said in a statement. “We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.”
