Linda Lavin, best known to TV audiences as “Alice,” is joining the cast of Sean Hayes’ TV pilot for NBC.

She will play Hayes’ mother in the multi-camera comedy to be directed by James Burrows.

The sitcom centers around Hayes’ character, who “must figure out how to parent his 14-year-old daughter, who just moved in, while navigating a temperamental new boss at work,” according to Deadline.

Lavin starred on the ’70s sitcom “Alice” from 1976 to 1985. Her more recent TV appearances include guest starring on “The O.C.,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “The Sopranos.”
