We know Jack Russell terriers can be a hyper-active breed, but the prognosticating pooch that came on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Friday night to make an annual Super Bowl prediction was so eager to get started that Jay Leno had to raise his voice to be heard over the dog’s barking.
It just so happens that Leno has the loudest, most booming announcing voice in all of late-night so he was up to the challenge when this female Jack Russell named Anastasia came on stage, held tightly in the arms of her owner — a woman named Dory — but barking furiously and struggling to break free.
Anastasia’s quest: An assemblage of about 70 balloons arranged on stage and displaying the logos of the Super Bowl competitors — the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.
Apparently, this dog really detests balloons and enjoys bursting them — something she’s done already for two consecutive years on “The Tonight Show” the Friday night before the Super Bowl. After she tears into the balloons, the team with the last balloon standing is the one predicted to win the big game. Of course, as Leno pointed out, Anastasia’s past predictions came true only once — out of her two attempts.
Watch the clip above to see who Anastasia picked this year. Of course, we won’t know ’til Sunday night if her prediction comes true or not.
Anastasia joins a growing number of zoo animals and prognosticating pets making Super Bowl predictions, including the group of adorable puppies we previously showcased HERE, from “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” earlier this week.
