XfinityTV.com has an exclusive teaser from CBS’s new reality series “The Job.” Premiering on Friday, Feb. 8 at 8/7c, “The Job” taps into America’s current unemployment crisis by offering select candidates from around the country an opportunity to land positions at a variety of prestigious companies.
Each episode will feature five hopefuls participating in several rounds of elimination challenges before a panel of executives as they compete for their dream job.
But there’s a twist! In addition to the episode’s featured company, representatives from three guest companies from related industries will have the option to make an on-the-spot offer to one of the candidates, who must decide if they will accept the offer or remain in the running for the featured job.
“The goal of this is to shine a light on the job interview process and how people are hired,” series host Lisa Ling recently explained to reporters. “And I think with this opportunity to actually see these employers from these major companies get to know these candidates and their backgrounds — they’re not just basing their decisions on their resume — takes it to an entirely different level. It takes it from being just this sort of rote impersonal kind of interview or process to something very deeply personal, to the extent that they get to know the lives and the challenges that these people are facing in their daily lives.”
Executive produced by reality TV gurus Mark Burnett (“Survivor,” “The Voice”) and Michael Davies (“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”), “The Job” premieres on Friday, Feb. 8 at 8/7c on CBS.
