It’s happening… ABC is going diving with the stars. The network has revealed the first wave of stars participating in its celebrity diving show, which it’s now calling “Splash.”
Coming in March, the reality series takes high-diving competition to a new level, pitting ten celebrities against each other in a series of increasingly difficult diving challenges that, according to the release, will force them to “leap off the 10-meter high dive, pair off to complete synchronized stunts, and flip, twist and spin into the depths of the pool below.”
In preparation for the splashy competition, Gold-medalist Greg Louganis will train each celebrity for several weeks, before they go off the deep end in front of a weekly poolside audience.
London Olympic U.S. Gold medalist David Boudia and Australian Olympic athlete and USA Dive Team director Steve Foley will offer the critiques and serve as the judges.
And yes, if this sounds familiar, you’re not crazy (even if the “stars” are) … Fox beat them to air with their own celebrity high diving act a few weeks back, “Stars in Danger: High Dive.”
“Splash” premieres on March 19 at 8/7c on ABC.
Here are eight of the ten celebrities competing on the show:
LOUIE ANDERSON, comedian
DRAKE BELL, of the Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh”
CHUY BRAVO, Chelsea Handler’s sidekick
NICOLE EGGERT, former “Baywatch” babe
KESHIA KNIGHT PULLIAM, “Rudy Huxtable” from “The Cosby Show”
NDAMUKONG SUH, NFL star of the Detroit Lions
KATHERINE WEBB, Miss Alabama USA 2012, University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron
KENDRA WILKINSON, reality star and former Playboy Playmate
