Rosemarie DeWitt is leaving HBO’s “The Newsroom.”

The actress was originally cast to play a recurring character in Season 2 of the acclaimed Aaron Sorkin series, but DeWitt is exiting after filming multiple episodes, forcing all of her scenes to be re-shot.

Re-casting is underway for her character Rebecca Halliday, a litigator who defends the fictional Atlantis Cable News channel when it becomes embroiled in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Scheduling conflict is cited as the reason, per HBO’s statement below.

“As the production schedule for season two of The Newsroom has shifted, Rosemarie DeWitt has encountered scheduling conflicts and will no longer be able to continue in her role.”

DeWitt has previously appeared on TV in AMC’s acclaimed “Mad Men” and Showtime’s “United States of Tara.”

The second season of “The Newsroom” premieres this June on HBO.
