Former “Saturday Night Live” staple Andy Samberg is returning to television.
Fox has ordered a pilot to a series starring Samberg, who departed “SNL” last season after a long run with the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot will follow “a diverse group of detectives at a New York precinct.” Samberg, who also serves a producer, will play the lead investigator.
Samberg’s sketches on “SNL” helped the series gain viral traction, including a trio of songs with Justin Timberlake such as “Dick in a Box,” as well as “Jack Sparrow” with Michael Bolton.
More recently, he appeared with Adam Sandler in “That’s My Boy.”
